Mary N. (?) was born in August 1935 in Malta. She married Alfred Mizzi at Canada. Mary N. (?) died on 26 October 2023 at Pacifica, CA, USA, at age 88. Biography Per grandson Ethan Mizzi: 'My Nanna, Mary Mizzi died today. she was 88 years old. she was born in Malta, was 10 years old when the war that devastated Malta ended. She immigrated to Toronto at 16 years old. In Canada she met my late Nannu Fred, had my aunt and my father. In then late 60s moved to San Francisco where they lived for a year in the Visitacion Valley and then a year later moved to South San Francisco where she spent the remainder of her life. my Nannu was a unionized warehouse worker and my Nanna was a unionized retail worker the lived on Newman Drive where they raised their two children Debbie and Glenn. Debbie had 3 boys before i was born and my parents had my younger brother and I. Now there are close to half a dozen great-grandchildren (not mine ofc) i grew up in the house across the street from them. my father is a union sheet metal worker and my mother was a first grade teacher so they were gone during the day, i stayed with my Nannu and Nanna when my parents weren't home. by this time my Nannu had retired and my Nanna worked part time at Terra Nova High School as a lunch lady because she enjoyed it. they drove me and walked me to and from elementary school, and after i'd be at their house till my parent came home. i was with them essentially every single day for the first 12 or so years of my life. they were like second parents to me; not to say my parents were absent or something, they were not they are fantastic parents. suffice it to say, i was very close to my Nannu and Nanna. i spent hours every week with my Nannu sitting in his car t Caltrain stations watching the trains go by while he did word searches. i spent hours with my Nanna working in her garden or cooking. eventually she finally fully retired when i was in middle school. i still saw them all the time but now that i walked to and from school i saw them less. as i got older i saw them much less but i made a point to visit and check on them regularly. as i began working and then eventually driving i saw them much less. they got older and stopped driving and being able to do errands so i tried to help but most errands were done by my Aunt. after high school i tried to visit every other day, sometimes it was much much less, sometimes a bit more. they grew more fragile and i tried to help them out how i could but there's not much a young adult me could do that my actual adult Dad or Aunt couldn't. A year and almost 2 months ago i went to check on them one morning and found my Nannu on the floor of his bedroom cold. he was 91. my Nanna's health steadily declined, and in the early evening of Pacific Time she too left us. i have so, so much to thank them both for. He gave me my love of movies, history, and trains amongst much more. she gave me my love of cooking, plants, and the snarky humor amongst much more. they were the best grandparents, i am so glad they were mine. i was devastated when my Nannu died, and i am devastated now. i feel such an immense sense of loss in my heart, it is indescribable. i am now without and living grandparents for the first time in my life and that is something hard to adjust to. i have nothing but countless happy memories with them. i have many pictures to look back upon. i have many things of theirs to remember them by. their memory will be cherished like nothing else i have in my heart. i am so thankful they were my grandparents. my last conversation with my Nannu was as they all were, mundane and short as they usually were, i asked if he wanted anything from the bagel shop i was going to before i went to work and he declined. i'm glad that was our last time, i do wish u had more closure. the last time in person i saw her was in August and it was very long and seeet and it was nice to tell her about how Canada is going. i showed her pictures of her sisters her other family here. she was really happy. i even facetimed her sisters and her old best friend. the last time i spoke to my Nanna was 10 days ago. my father was visiting her and facetimed me just as i was about to go into the subway so i am so glad i got the call. it was about 5 minutes long and it was very sweet. it made me sad because i missed her so much, and her health was clearly not too good. it warmed my heart to see just how lit up and happy talking to me made her. i'll probably remember it forever. on 26 October 2023.
She immigrated circa 1951 to Toronto, Canada; at 16 years old. Her married name was Mizzi.
